Business English for the sales department and customer service teams at an IT company

The client and the challenge

A Polish IT company was expanding its cooperation with international clients — mainly from Western Europe and the USA. The sales team and technical specialists regularly held meetings, gave presentations and communicated on projects in English.

Employees were able to use English at a communicative level, but fluency and precision in communication during sales and project-related situations remained a challenge. Difficulties arose particularly during sales negotiations, when presenting technical solutions, and when building relationships with international clients.

Aim of the project

The aim of the programme was to boost the team’s confidence in business communication and to improve the quality of customer interaction at various stages of the partnership.

What we did

We began the project with a language audit and an analysis of real-life communication situations encountered by the team at work.

On this basis, we developed a programme comprising:

  • group training sessions for the sales department and account managers,
  • sessions for technical specialists working with clients,
  • modules on client communication, negotiation, product presentation and project communication,
  • simulations of client meetings, product demos and sales conversations,
  • work on real-life materials and project scenarios.
  • The programme combined Business English with elements of technical language (IT English), tailored to the participants’ day-to-day work.

As part of the project, we also implemented a reporting system for HR and management covering attendance, participants’ progress and recommendations for the programme’s further development.

Results

  • standardisation of communication with international clients,
  • greater confidence among the team during sales meetings,
  • clearer presentation of technical solutions,
  • better cooperation between technical and business departments,
  • greater comfort working in an international environment.
